House Cleaning in the Sunset District by a Team That Already Knows These Homes

Fog that never quite leaves the bathroom, sand that finds its way up the stairs from Ocean Beach, and window sills that collect grit faster than you can wipe them. Anna and her small team clean homes in the Inner Sunset, the Outer Sunset and Parkside every week, so they know what these houses need before they walk through your door.

You get the same familiar faces on every visit, honest prices you can see before you book, and a free estimate from Anna within 24 hours.

Why Cleaning a Sunset Home Takes a Different Approach

The Sunset is the biggest neighborhood in San Francisco, and most of its homes share a few habits that a generic cleaning checklist misses. These are the problems Anna sees again and again in Sunset houses, along with what her team does about each one.

Fog and Moisture That Feed Mildew

Fog rolls in off the ocean on most summer days, and that moisture settles into bathroom grout, shower corners, window frames and the inside of windows that face north. When those spots get cleaned on a regular schedule, mildew never has the chance to build up into black stains that are hard to remove, so we scrub the grout, wipe down the frames and leave surfaces dry instead of wet. If we find mold that goes deeper than the surface, like under caulk that has pulled away or inside a wall, we'll tell you honestly so you can call the right specialist.

Sand and Grit From Ocean Beach

If you live in the Outer Sunset, you already know the beach doesn't stay at the beach. Fine sand comes in on shoes, dogs, strollers and the wind, and it settles in entryways, along stair carpets, on window sills and deep inside the tracks of sliding windows. We vacuum stairs and entry rugs carefully, clear out window tracks and sills, and spend extra time on hard floors, where grit left too long starts to scratch the finish.

Homes Built Over a Garage

Most of the Sunset was built in the 1930s and 1940s as rows of stucco houses, with the living space sitting on top of a garage and a long stairway running up from the front door. That layout means a lot of steps to clean, big bay or picture windows in the front room that gather dust and salt film on their sills, and an entry level where dirt from the street and the garage piles up first. We clean the stairs one step at a time, wipe the ledges around those front windows, and work from the top of the house down so the dust doesn't follow us back into rooms we already finished.

Older Homes in the Inner Sunset

Closer to Golden Gate Park and UCSF, many homes are older, with wood trim, built in cabinets, hardwood floors and the kind of detail that needs a gentle hand. We dust trim and moldings by hand and stay careful with the products we use on old wood, so nothing gets scratched or dulled while it's getting clean.

What Every Sunset Cleaning Includes

Every visit covers the kitchen, the bathrooms, the bedrooms and the living areas, from the stovetop and the sink to the baseboards, the light switches and the dust hiding behind the furniture. You can see the full room by room list in our regular house cleaning section, and Anna always talks through your priorities with you before the first visit so the cleaning fits the way your family lives day to day.

Extras like laundry, dishes, the inside of the oven or the inside of the fridge can be added to any visit. We include them in your quote up front, so you know exactly what you're paying for before anyone picks up a sponge.

What House Cleaning Costs in the Sunset

Nobody likes calling for a quote and getting a vague answer, so here are the starting prices for the two home sizes we clean most often in the neighborhood. Your final price depends on the square footage, how much the home needs and any extras you add, and you'll always see that number before we start.

Home size Regular cleaning Deep cleaning Move in / move out
2 bedrooms From $180 From $250 From $350
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms From $250 From $400 From $450

Clients who book on a weekly, biweekly or monthly schedule get better rates than a one time visit, since a home that's cleaned often takes less work each time we come. Smaller places start at $150, and if you rent a downstairs unit or an apartment, you can read more about our apartment cleaning service.

The Sunset Homes We Clean

Many of our Sunset clients are families who simply ran out of hours in the week, and they'd rather spend Saturday at the park or at the beach than scrubbing a shower. A regular visit keeps the house under control, so the weekend belongs to them again instead of to the mop and the vacuum.

Others have lived in the same house for decades, or they're looking for someone trustworthy to help an older parent who still lives on their own. When you can't check in on your mom every week yourself, it helps to know the person inside her home has a name, a face and years of happy clients behind her, and that she isn't whoever an app happened to send that day. That's what our housekeeper service in San Francisco is built for, with the same person every visit, help with dishes and laundry, and the kind of trust that has led several clients to hand Anna a key to their front door.

Renters near UCSF and Irving Street move often, and a landlord inspection can decide whether a security deposit comes back or not. Our move in and move out cleaning gets inside every cabinet and appliance, and when a home needs a full reset after a long stretch of busy months, our deep cleaning service takes care of everything regular visits don't reach.

Patricia lives in the Sunset and has Anna do a deep cleaning in her home every six weeks. This is what she wrote about her experience on Yelp:

"Ana was a special find. She is very professional, responsible, thorough, accommodating and always on time. A bonus is she has a very pleasant personality. We rely on her to keep our house in good shape. We have her do a deep cleaning every 6 weeks. We could not live without her help. Our stove was like a make over. The kitchen and appliances sparkle. She cleaned all our window sills and maintains them so they are debris free. She makes our cabinets look fresh. We highly recommend Ana, who has many sisters as her assistants."

Ana is truly fantastic. Cleans thoroughly, communicates before and after, and leaves our place so clean we can’t believe it’s just her in there. But she’s just that good. Can’t recommend enough!

Where We Clean in the Sunset

We cover the whole Sunset District, from the Inner Sunset near Golden Gate Park and UCSF through the Central and Outer Sunset all the way to Ocean Beach, plus Parkside to the south. If you live near Irving, Judah, Noriega or Taraval, in the 94122 or 94116 zip codes, you're inside our service area, and we also offer house cleaning services in San Francisco and the Peninsula beyond the Sunset.

Questions From Sunset Homeowners

Regular cleaning starts around $180 for a two bedroom home and $250 for a three bedroom, two bathroom home. Deep cleaning starts at $250 and $400 for those same sizes, move out cleaning starts at $350 and $450, and the final price depends on square footage, condition and any extras you add.

We quote by the home, so you know the full price before we start instead of watching the clock. Many apps and independent cleaners in San Francisco charge $50 to $60 an hour, which is hard to budget for when you don't know how many hours a job will take.

The idea is that about 20 percent of your home, mostly the kitchen, the bathrooms and the floors, creates about 80 percent of the feeling that a house is clean or dirty. We put the most time into those areas on every visit, then handle the dusting and the details that keep the rest of your home looking cared for.

Tipping is up to you, and it isn't part of your quote. For a one time deep clean or a move out, many people tip somewhere between 10 and 20 percent, so a $500 job would mean $50 to $100, while recurring clients often give one holiday tip instead of tipping after every visit.

Yes, Anna keeps the same small team on your home, so the people who come back each time already know your rooms, your priorities and where you keep things. You'll never open your door to a stranger you haven't met before.

We clean surface mildew from grout, caulk, tile, window frames and sills on every visit, and keeping up with it on a schedule is the best way to stop it from coming back. If the stains go deeper, under the caulk or into the drywall, we'll tell you it needs a mold specialist instead of charging you for a cleaning that can't fix it.

Most busy households in the Sunset do well with a visit every two weeks, while a home with kids, pets or beach sand coming in every day may need help every week. Some clients set their own rhythm, like Patricia, who has us do a deep cleaning every six weeks to keep her kitchen, appliances and window sills in shape.

We clean in the Inner Sunset, the Central Sunset, the Outer Sunset and Parkside, which covers the 94122 and 94116 zip codes. We also serve the rest of San Francisco, along with Daly City, South San Francisco, San Bruno and San Mateo.
